PHYSICAN Dr Hisamuddin papa was
tired of helplessly listening to he bitter tales of patients being
over-changed by some doctors and diagnostic centres. It was now time
for action.
So, on Sunday, he teamed up with at least 40 other
colleagues from across the city and formed 'Noble Doctors'. A team, who would
strictly adhere to medical ethics while practising the nobile profession.
Moreover, patients would be referred to Huma Speciality Hospital
and Research Centre in Nandanam, a diagnostic centre founded by Dr
Papa, where tests would be hassle-free and procedures' transparent.
Says Dr Papa; "we would not offer any kickbacks.
That's our first promise to our patients." And adds: "you
would be surprised that most diagnostic centres increase the cost
of tests, X-rays and scans simply because they will have to pay a
'commission' to the doctor who had referred the patient to the centre.
most doctors indulge patients in tests they don't require. This is
violation of medical ethics and we refuse to do this."
Violation of medical ethics is a penal offence,
notes Dr papa. his diagnostic centre works under the motto - We dare
because we care. The 40 doctors, who refer their patients to
the
centre for diagnosis, he says, will do so only if the tests are necessary. "The
doctor and
patient together
would decide on the mode of tretment. They would be sent here for
diagnosis only if they mutually agree that it would be of help." explains
Dr Papa.
The centre, he says, changes 60 percent
lesser than other hospital or diagnostic centres. "I will not
market my centre. We would do the tests only for our 'Noble Doctors'.
But i can tell you our diagnosis will be second to none," stresses
Dr papa.
The escalating cost of medicines, he agrees, is because
of the constant advancement in technology. "But with the growing technology there has been a growing
demand for ethics. Did you know that most patients are subjected to unnecessary
tests?" asks Dr papa.
Senior doctors like former director of tuberculosis
Research Centre Dr Jagannathan and renowned physician Dr KV Tiruvenkatam
praised Dr Papa's efforts in the field of medicine.
