India has been viewed as the destination
for medical care with competent specialists. An era of 'Medical Tourism'
has begun in the country, but the saddest aspect is that how much
of the expertise is beneficial to the common man.
To ensure international quality, affordable medical care for everyone
and as an effort to check unethicl or illegal practice of gratis
or kickbacks, a team of doctors has formed an initiative called 'The
Noble Doctor".
Speaking to the press on Thursday, Hisamuddin papa, founder and director
of HUMA Specialists Hospital and Research Centre, said the initiative
would strive to make quality medical treatment available to all and
also challenge the unethical or illegal medical practices. Crusading
against doctors being included under the consumer forum and prescribing
only necessary medicines and necessary investigations to save the
patients from overdosage, radiation and also unwanted expenditure
would be the major objectives of the team, he added.
Spreading awareness among the public about the availability of top
quality diagnostic and investigations at a reasonable cost would
also be one of the onjectives. At present around 40 doctors from
various hospitals in Chennai have joined the initiative.
